Student answer (Band 6.0)

Based on the opinion of some people it is useful to share lots of information in research, business and educational field. But many are not ready to accept that all information should be available freely which demolish its valuable aspects. In my opinion some information should be hidden and confidential to serve the self benefit of particular business and research.

Many information can be shared freely to expand the knowledge of individuals. Small business ideas, research tools, educational tips and tricks can be shared in social media platforms such as-Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube. This will enable to encourage small entrepreneurs to start their own business, young researchers to initiate some experiments for new innovation. Further more it will ensure easy access for students to reach valuable information which can be beneficial for their study and career goal.

But some are believing in confidentiality and secrecy regarding spreading out any data. Information providing in a free flow causes unfairness. Some research techniques and methodologies are very difficult to achieve. Some businessmen have put a lot of afford to build valuable structure and business model. If they share those information freely, many opportunity seekers will copy their idea and produce similar products without any hard work which will discourage new innovations. For example- The making of Coca cola should be kept in secret otherwise, competitors will imitate the process and produce it for their own brand.

Although, freely shared information provides certain amount of advantage in many criteria of research, business and academic wellbeing, in some field it is better to keep information secure and unexposed to protect the self-interest of particular people. Therefore, individuals should be careful on spreading information.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and give a clear opinion: you support sharing useful material while arguing that commercially valuable or difficult-to-produce information may need protection. The examples of social-media learning resources and Coca-Cola’s formula make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits are listed rather than explained in depth, and the claim that free information “causes unfairness” needs clearer reasoning. Your conclusion restates your position, though “individuals should be careful” is less precise than specifying what kinds of information should remain confidential. More explanation and a sharper distinction between public knowledge and proprietary information would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding position. The contrast between the paragraphs is easy to follow, and signposts such as “But” and “Although” help show the direction of the argument. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs could be clearer. For example, the first body paragraph moves from business ideas to research and then student access without explaining how these examples relate to one another. “Although” introduces the final point, but the sentence is long and its relationship to the preceding discussion is not fully smooth. Use more precise referencing and link each example directly to the claim it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range for the topic, including terms such as “confidentiality,” “methodologies,” “competitors,” and “innovations.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the Coca-Cola example is expressed in relevant business vocabulary. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “demolish its valuable aspects,” “self benefit,” “free flow,” and “opportunity seekers.” “Educational field” and “business model” are understandable, but some phrases are repeated or imprecise. Aim for more natural academic combinations, such as “undermine its value,” “commercial interests,” and “unrestricted access.” Greater precision would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If they share those information freely, many opportunity seekers will copy their idea.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction remain noticeable. For example, “Many information can be shared” needs a different quantifier and verb agreement, while “which demolish its valuable aspects” has an unclear reference and agreement problem. The sentence beginning “Although, freely shared information…” is also awkwardly constructed, and the comma after “Although” is unnecessary. Work on countable and uncountable nouns, consistent singular/plural references, and building complex sentences with clear subjects and clauses.
