The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The two maps compare the layout of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the town center will undergo significant development. the most notable changes are the constructions of a dual carriageway and the addition of several new facilities.

To begin with, at present, the main road throughout the center of the town, with shops located on both sides. the countryside of the northern part, whereas housing is situated in the south. Moreover, a school is positioned in the south-west, while a park is located in the south-east.

Meanwhile, according to the plan, the main road will become a pedestrians only area, although the shops will remain. the countryside will be replaced by a bus station, shopping center, car park and new housing. Furthermore, a dual carriageway will surround the town center. new housing will also be added near the park, whereas the school and park will remain in the current locations.
