Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the current and planned maps. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes. While you mention the addition of a bus station and shopping center, the description of the layout is repetitive and lacks precision. To improve, you should group information more logically—for example, by discussing the residential changes separately from the infrastructure and commercial developments. Ensure that you provide a clear summary statement in the introduction or conclusion that highlights the overall transformation of the town, rather than just listing individual features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. The text is presented as a single block, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'fristly', 'so'). There is a lack of logical flow between sentences; for instance, the transition from discussing the shopping center to the park and then to the pedestrian paths feels disjointed. To improve, you should organize your report into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, a body paragraph for the current state, a body paragraph for the planned changes, and a brief summary. Using a wider variety of linking words would also help improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'housing', 'shops', and 'facilities'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'facalilities', 'shoping', 'hosing', and 'resourceses', which occasionally hinder readability. While you attempt to use some descriptive language, such as 'peace and comfort', the word choice is often imprecise or unnatural in the context of a map report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'residential area', 'infrastructure', 'pedestrianized zones', and 'relocated'. Proofreading for spelling accuracy is also essential.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the message. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('Islip town before was contain'), missing articles ('the islip to n is not established'), and awkward sentence structures ('the roads are more aligned in developed housing that are best for the transportation'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in basic punctuation and capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that verbs are correctly conjugated and that articles are used appropriately. Practicing complex sentences with relative clauses would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
