Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the development of the road, the addition of housing, and the new pedestrian area. However, the description is somewhat disorganized and lacks a clear, analytical focus. While the main changes are identified, the comparison between the current and future town is hindered by imprecise language, such as 'all the buildings expected to setup in different areas', which is factually inaccurate as the school and park remain. The overview is present but lacks the necessary clarity to fully synthesize the information. To improve, focus on grouping features logically (e.g., transport infrastructure vs. residential areas) rather than listing them sequentially.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader navigate the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'At the fleeting glance,Initially' and 'Moving further,Firstly'. These transitions feel forced and do not always create a logical flow between sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the spatial relationships between the new developments. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words, as well as ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus, would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic verbs like 'setup', 'built', and 'stay'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'variations will demonstrate in the development' and 'bus sand'. The phrase 'pedestrians only is estimate' is grammatically and lexically incorrect. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to town planning, such as 'infrastructure', 'residential zones', 'expansion', or 'pedestrianized area', and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('shops is expected', 'school remain'), missing articles ('in east area'), and incorrect prepositional usage ('built in west direction'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple or contain errors when attempting more complex constructions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions, before attempting more complex sentence structures.
