IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps illustrate the information regarding Islip town centre now and planned development.

Overall, it is evident that town centre will have became more developed with modern facilities when it undergoes planned development.

Now, town centre consists of a countryside on the northern side of main road while a park, a school and housing present on the southern side. Shops are present on both sides of main road.

Following the planned development, countryside will be replaced by a numbrer of new buildings such as: a bus station, a shopping centre, a car park and a new housing area. Main road will be converted to path for pedestrians only. New digital carriageway will be built in south western area near school. All others such as shops, park, housing, and school will remained as it before.

In short, Islip town centre will underwent changes to become more advanced and developed with modern facilities.
