IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given maps show how Islip town look now and how it will look in the future after development.

Overall, the main road will be replaced to the peripheral area of the city and the new shopping centre, car park and new housing will be constructed according to new development plan.

In the old Islip town there was a main road and on the each side were the shops. There was a school on the south-west with closed road at the end and a park on south-west.

With the new construction plan, the main road will be replaced by Pedestrians path and the main road will cover the town from outside. There will be a bus station on the north-west side just above the pedestrian road, followed by a big shopping centre and a car park while on the lower side of the pedestrian area will be the shops. The new house will be constructed on the north- west side just near the car park. The school and the old park will be on the main road because both closed road will be replaced by main road.
