IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The map illustrate the development plan of the centre of a small town, known as Islip. How it looks now and how it would look in future. Overall, now the town is located on the both sides of the main road and in future the whole town will surrounded by a circular road, making it comfortable for the residents to get easy and quick access to any facility.
The Islip town centre now lies on the both sides of the main road. Having shops on the each side, right and left. The housing sector is on the south. While the park is also between the housing colony, in the east side. The park is linking to the main road. Furthermore, the school is on the south west of the town. With a sub division of the road, which is linking to the main boulevard.
In the planned development of Islip town centre, the main change will be the circular dual carriageway, with both entrance and exit in east and west. The shops will be in the centre of the town. While the other facilities, mainly the bus station, shopping center, car park and housing colony will be in the north. Between the shops and other amenities, there would be a path dedicated for pedestrians only. Furthermore in the south, there will be another housing plans with a park. School will be relocated on the south, outside the dual carriageway.
