Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully identifies the main features of the maps, including the transition from a standard road to a dual carriageway and the expansion of housing and facilities. You have clearly contrasted the present state with the future plans. However, the overview is slightly weak; while you mention 'major changes', it would be more effective to highlight the most significant transformation, such as the pedestrianisation of the town centre and the shift in infrastructure. The description of locations is generally accurate, though some specific details, such as the exact placement of the new housing relative to the park, could be more precisely articulated to ensure a fully comprehensive report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the present and future states. The progression of ideas is clear, and you use some cohesive devices like 'furthermore', 'additionally', and 'moreover' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'in between the town' is vague and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would help elevate the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'redevelopment', 'dual carriageway', and 'pedestrians'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'extra addition' (which is redundant) and 'redesign' (which should be 'redesigned'). Additionally, the phrasing 'in between the town' is not natural in this context. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to urban planning, such as 'infrastructure development' or 'pedestrianised zone', and avoid repetitive phrasing when describing the expansion of the town's facilities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'the area will be redesign' should be 'the area will be redesigned', and 'Main road is renovated will be replaced' is syntactically confusing. There are also issues with article usage, such as 'with an addition of bus station' (should be 'a bus station') and 'countryside is on the north side' (should be 'the countryside'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to limit the score.
