The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps illustrates the planned development of the centre of islip town, comapring its layout with proposed changing .
Overall , the town centre is expected to undergo significant redevelopment . The main road will be replaced by dual carriageway around the centre, while several new facilities including bus stations ,shopping centre, car park and additional housing , will be introduced . the central area will be more pedistrain friendly.
At the present, the main road runs from west to east through the town centre , with shops located on both sides. There are areas of housing to the south , while a park is situated in the south east. A school is located in the south west , and northern part of the town mainly.
Under the planned development , the main road will become the dual carriageway surrounding the town centre . The central shopping area will be accessible only to the pedestrains .While several new facilities including bus stations ,shopping centre, car park and additional housing , will be introduced . The school will also remain in the south west .
