IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The maps depicts current layout of Islip town centre and how it will look in the future.

Overall, it can be seen that the town centre will

undergo significant changes, including the construction

of new facilities and the removal of some existing

features.

In the today's map of Islip town, it is observed that there

is a main road between the few shops from west to east in the upper side of the map. A school is situated in the south-west direction and a park is located between the

housing facilities in the south side of town.

Turning to future development, shops will be converted into bus station, shopping centre, car park in the north

direction. Some new housing facilities will be built in the

north-east areas. Moreover, main road will be constructed

for pedestrians only opposite the shops in the centre of layout. There will be established dual carriageway around

all the facilities. The park and school will be

remained same on their original locations.
