IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Islip Town's map illustrates the arrangements for the advancement of its center. This includes the countryside, main road, shops, housing, school, and park.
The main road runs from west to east on the map. Both the north and South of the main road consist of shops. Behind the shops to the north is the countryside, and to the south is the housing society. which makkes it very convenient for both people living in the countryside and residents to reach the shops and main road easily. To the right, which is the east side of the housing society, is the park, however, the shool is situated opposite to the park on the left which is West pole of the residence. Both the park and the school have roads leading to the main road. This is how the society is currently mapped.
On the other hand, the new map of the town is very well structured, with more facilities available. To the north of the town are situated shopping center and car parks. Whereas, to the northeast is the new housing society. To the northwest is the bus station. Along it is the Pedestrains only area which is directly aligned with shops horizontally aligned from west to east pole. To the Soth we have two more housing societies and a part to the Southeast. This entire area is surounded by Dual carriageway and on the Southwest pole is situated the school.
