IELTS Writing Task 1 question
The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The maps illustrate the middle of a small town called Islip as it is at present and the upcoming changes for its development.
The overall area of town is not chaged, however straight main road will be replaced with a circular road splitting at a point and connecting at another point. All the general faculties will be surronded by the road along with school and housing at the outward edge of the round track.
Currently, a single main road is passing through the city centre having alot of shops along its both sides. After the development, the road will be converted into a circular path providing more convinient access for the vehicles to different services, like the parking area for which now a seperated road is being used, will be available in between the circular track.
New housings will also be constructed at two different locations in future and a seperate path will be used for connecting one of it to the road. The school will remain at same position as it is today but it will not have its specific track, as new circular road will likely to be connected with it. Unlike today, a special track will be available for the padestrians after the developments. A new parking area specifically for cars, a bus station and a shopping cetre will also be available in the north side of the city cetre.
