Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response only partially addresses the task and fails to reach the required minimum word count of 150 words, falling short at 121 words. While the student attempts to provide an overview and mentions some changes, such as the introduction of a bus station, shopping centre, and dual carriageway, the information is disjointed and lacks a fully developed comparison between the present layout and the proposed plans. Key spatial relationships are frequently unclear or incorrectly described, such as stating that the countryside and shops were removed entirely when only the northern shops were replaced, and the report trails off abruptly before completing the description.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text demonstrates some basic organisational structure, beginning with an introductory sentence and attempting an overall summary. However, there is no clear overall progression or logical flow. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, repetitive, or missing altogether, and punctuation is largely neglected, with missing capitalisation and run-on clauses (e.g., 'overall ,it is clear that...'). Furthermore, the paragraphing is underdeveloped, and the sudden cessation of the response prevents any coherent conclusion or logical grouping of details.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for attempting the task, with noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede communication. Words are frequently misused or distorted, such as 'romoved' instead of removed, 'espcially' instead of especially, and the fragmented naming of features like 'Shopping,Car centre'. The student attempts some task-specific terminology, such as 'dual carriageway' and 'pedestrians only', but repetitive phrasing and spelling errors restrict the lexical range to a lower level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There is a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex phrasing are frequently faulty. The response suffers from frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('had school and park'), incorrect preposition use ('to left and right'), and severe punctuation and capitalisation lapses throughout the text. These frequent errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a weak control over basic sentence boundaries and grammatical agreement.
