Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the maps as showing Islip now and after development, and you mention several relevant features, including the pedestrian-only street, new housing, shopping centre, bus station and dual carriageway. However, the main changes are only partly reported: the response does not clearly explain that the northern shops are replaced by new facilities, or describe the loop road and the locations of the retained shops, park and school. The overview is also unclear and includes unsupported claims about “sports, entertainment and medical facilities” and development in “almost all four” directions. Some current features are listed, but their positions and changes are difficult to understand. Focus on the most significant contrasts and describe them accurately and selectively.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and descriptions of the present and planned layouts. Connectors such as “Overall” and “Furthermore” also show an effort to guide the reader. However, progression is difficult to follow because the current-map description is compressed into one unclear sentence, while the planned features are presented as a list rather than grouped by location or change. Phrases such as “Let, have look” and “Pouring some light” do not create clear transitions, and references such as “the opposite side” are ambiguous. Use separate, logically ordered paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and link features by their position on the map.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant map vocabulary, including “Main road,” “Housing,” “car park,” “shopping center” and “dual carriageway,” so the reader can recognise several features. However, the range is limited and many word choices or spellings make the description hard to interpret: “plantation,” “sports,” “medical facilities” and “research” are not supported by the maps, while “cross the road shop” is unclear. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “transporation,” “dircation” and “pedestrains,” and awkward phrases such as “Pouring some light on.” Choose precise location and change vocabulary, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, including “Overall it can be seen that…” and “Furthermore…,” but control is inconsistent. Several sentences lack clear grammatical structure, particularly “Let, have look a Islip town center” and “the opposite side shops Housing, new housing, attached the park.” Articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries are also problematic: “there were Housing” and “now there are some planned development infrastructure” do not form accurate descriptions. Punctuation spacing and comma use further interrupt the reading. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then use accurate articles and prepositions to describe where features are located and what changes.
