Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main contrast between the present town centre and the proposed redevelopment, and you report several relevant changes: the bus station, shopping centre, car parking, new housing and pedestrian-only street. The overview that the plan involves substantial modification is appropriate. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the park is in the south-east, not the north-east, in the current map, and the plan does not show new housing in both the north-east and south-east as stated. The dual carriageway forms a loop around the centre rather than simply replacing the countryside. You also omit important comparisons, including the retained southern shops, the smaller park, and the school and southern housing remaining outside the loop. More precise coverage of these features would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the comparison, describes the current layout, and then turns to the proposed plan. This helps the reader follow the broad topic. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and several ideas are presented as a list rather than being grouped by location or type of change. Connectors such as “Further more,” “Moreover,” and repeated references to “development plan” are mechanical, while the final paragraph shifts from describing the maps to judging the plan as beneficial. Some references, such as “there” and “the Adaptation,” are not clear. Organise the details into a current-layout paragraph and a planned-changes paragraph, using location-based links such as “to the north” and “in the southern area.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “main road,” “bus station,” “shopping centre,” “pedestrians,” and “dual carriageway,” so the reader can identify several key features. However, the range is limited and some choices are inaccurate or unnatural for an objective map summary. “Huge modification” and “great improvement” are repeated general phrases rather than precise descriptions, and “car parking” is less suitable here than “car park.” “Adaptation of New housing” does not clearly describe the map feature, while “helpful for car parking” is vague. Spelling and word-form slips such as “Morover” and “compaire” also reduce control. Use specific verbs and nouns to describe what changes, remains, or is relocated.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main message is generally understandable. However, grammatical control is uneven, with errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “Following map illustrate” needs an article and a plural verb, while “there is a huge modifications” has a singular/plural mismatch. “It make life more easier” contains errors in subject–verb agreement and comparative form, and “It help” should also agree with its subject. Several sentence fragments, including “Addition of bus station…” and “In North East and in South East…,” make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise complete sentences with accurate subjects and verbs, and use a consistent present tense for the current map and future or planned forms for the proposal.
