Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the topic as Islip’s present layout and planned development, and you correctly mention that the plan adds a bus station, shopping centre, car parking and a dual carriageway. However, the response is incomplete: it stops mid-sentence at “and started” and gives almost no accurate account of how the two maps compare. The claim that the town was “build without any map” is unsupported, while the overview that the plan is “looking better” is too general to summarise the main changes. Important features such as the pedestrian-only street, the retained southern shops, new housing and the smaller park are not described. The response is also 22 words below the required minimum. To improve, provide a clear overview and report the main changes in both the northern and southern areas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation: you introduce the maps, then refer to the current town in one paragraph and the planned development in another. This gives the reader a simple sense of sequence. However, the progression is limited, and the second-map description ends abruptly, so the comparison is not completed. Several ideas are repeated, including the absence of a bus station, shopping centre and car parking in the current layout. Linking is also weak: “In these graphs” and “In the first graph” do not help organise the map information precisely, and “Their” is repeatedly used without a clear reference. Group the changes by location or by what is removed, retained and added, and use clear links such as “By contrast” and “In the south.”

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “Bus station,” “Shopping center,” “Dual carriageway” and “planned development.” These terms show awareness of the topic. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for an IELTS map description. “Graphs” should be “maps,” “mini town” is not an appropriate description, and “scheme for its growth” is an awkward way to refer to the plan. Phrases such as “many difficulties to survive their” do not communicate a clear map feature. Spelling and word-form consistency also need attention, for example “center” and “Shopping center” alongside the British spelling “car parking.” Use precise terms for locations and changes, such as “north of,” “replaced by” and “remains.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few connected sentences and uses basic present and past forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “The maps below illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “It build without any map” has an incorrect verb form. “Their has no many things” and “It has many difficulties for the for people who lives here” contain errors in sentence construction, articles and agreement that make the meaning difficult to follow. The sentence “In the other graph the planned development system is looking better” is understandable but does not show much structural variety. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using forms such as “shops are replaced by…” and “the park will be reduced.” Check agreement, verb forms and punctuation when editing.
