Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two maps as showing Islip now and its planned development, and you mention several relevant features, including the east–west main road, shops, housing, a park, a school, and proposed transport and shopping facilities. However, the comparison is only partial and some details are inaccurate or too general. The plan adds a dual-carriageway loop and makes the central street pedestrian-only, but your phrase “construct the new road” does not explain this arrangement. You also omit the bus station, car park, new housing, and the fact that the school remains outside the loop. The claim that the town has decided to develop because existing facilities are “not enough” is not shown by the maps. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a description of the present town, and a final paragraph about the plan. This gives the reader some sense of progression, and “At present” and “Thatswhy” attempt to connect ideas. However, the progression is weakened because the final paragraph shifts from describing map features to speculating about residents’ needs and the town’s reasons for development. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, and links such as “Thatswhy” are repeated rather than used to show clear relationships between specific changes. Organise the report by comparing the northern and southern areas, or by describing the current layout followed by the planned changes, and use clearer referencing to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “main road,” “shops,” “park,” “school,” “bus station,” and “shopping center,” so the general subject is recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “decide for its development” does not naturally express that a plan is proposed, while “other thing” and “helpfull” are vague or misspelled. “Bus stand” is less suitable than the map’s “bus station,” and “town peoples” is an awkward expression. Spelling errors such as “Isilip,” “childern,” and “runing” are also noticeable. Use precise map vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “Overall, it can be seen…” and a clause introduced by “because.” However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some sentences are difficult to follow. For example, “The map illustrate” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “has decided to developed” uses the wrong verb form. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and “At present the main road running west to east” is missing a finite verb. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, as in “shops in both side” and the long sentence about houses, the park, and the school. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then add subordinate clauses with correct verb forms and punctuation.
