Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad purpose of the plans and include several relevant changes, such as the pedestrian-only central road, the dual carriageway and new development. However, the overview is not fully accurate: the school remains in its location, but the park is reduced and does not remain unchanged. Some details are also misreported or unclear. For example, the northern shops are replaced by a bus station, shopping centre and car park, while the new housing is northeast of the car park; the southern shops remain. The description of the current roads and housing is difficult to interpret, and the planned southern layout is omitted. A more precise overview and clearer comparisons of what changes and what stays would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to descriptions of the present map and proposed scheme. This gives the reader some sense of progression. However, the sequence within paragraphs is not consistently logical: the current road layout is described as “a road which is divided into two roads,” and the final paragraph lists planned features without clearly locating them or comparing them with the existing map. Linking words such as “However” and “Moreover” are used, but some connections do not express the relationship between ideas accurately. Organise the details by area or by what changes and remains, and use clearer references so each feature’s location is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “pedestrians only,” “dual carriageway,” “shopping centre” and “new housing,” which helps convey the main development. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, for example “plas,” “carriagaeaway,” “palace” and “Estren.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “houses are between them” and “one row of shops will turn into” several different facilities. Use accurate map vocabulary such as “located between,” “replaced by” and “to the east of,” and check spelling carefully. More precise terms would help distinguish the bus station, shopping centre, car park and housing rather than grouping them vaguely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more complex sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships unclear. For example, “New housing will be added, main road will turn into pedestrians only” lacks articles and does not form a clear parallel construction. In “A dual carriageway will surrounded Islip town,” the future verb form is incorrect, while “School and park will be on same location” has missing articles and an awkward prepositional pattern. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “In the Estren side there is a park while, houses are between them.” Practise accurate future forms and article use, and build longer sentences around clear, complete clauses.
