The maps illustrate the changes in centre of a small town known as Islip town centre as it is now and after the plan developments. Overall, it is apparent that, there is main road in the centre and shops on the both sides is a straight way, while according to developmental plan it will change into semi circular form which is surrounded by main road all the main facilities are inside this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main contrast between the current town centre and the proposed redevelopment, including the pedestrianised central street, the northern bus station, shopping centre and car park, and additional housing. You also note that the southern shops remain and that the school and some housing stay in place. These are relevant features and give the reader a general picture of the plan. However, some important details are unclear or inaccurate: the planned road is a dual-carriageway loop, not a “semi circular form,” and the school and southern housing remain outside it. The overview also says the facilities are all inside the road, which overlooks these exceptions. Develop the comparison more precisely, including the reduced park and the bus station, shopping centre and car park’s west-to-east arrangement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by a description of the present layout and then the proposed changes. This progression helps the reader distinguish the two maps, and linking phrases such as “At the present time” and “According to plan changes” signal the shift between stages. The main points are generally grouped sensibly. To make the organisation more effective, use clearer references and avoid packing several locations into long sentences joined by “while” and “and.” For example, the sentence beginning “In addition, two more housing society added” combines housing, the park and the existing colony, making their positions harder to follow. Separate these details and use more precise directional links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant map vocabulary, including “main road,” “pedestrians,” “bus station,” “car park,” “northeast” and “south west,” so the reader can understand many of the changes. There is also some attempt to vary wording with phrases such as “developmental plan” and “remain same.” However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “housing societies,” “semi circular form” and “the downside shops.” Repetition of “side” and “same” also limits precision. Choose standard terms for map descriptions and use collocations such as “housing areas,” “on the southern side” and “a loop road.” More accurate vocabulary would help distinguish the dual carriageway from the pedestrianised street.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response communicates the broad comparison between the existing and planned layouts. However, control of sentence structure and basic grammar is inconsistent. Examples include “there is main road,” “shops present on the both side,” and “two more housing society added,” where articles, verb forms or plural agreement are missing. The opening sentence also has an awkward construction, and the overview contains a comma after “apparent” that interrupts the clause. Tense control needs attention when describing the maps: use the present for the current layout and forms such as “will be replaced” or “is planned to” for future changes. Build accuracy first with shorter, complete sentences, then add complex clauses.
