Student answer (Band 6.0)

In contemporary era, the firms leverage advertisements to portray their goods are new in some way because to increase the publicity of the product. I believe it is a negative development due to it influence individuals buy the product unnecessarily.

To begin with, enterprises generally emphasize adverts to highlight the new features of the product. This is mainly because, to promote the product in order to increase the sales. The clear example of this can be seen in new product launch from a company as they a advertise it's specifications so that individual will attract. As a result, this not only grow the sales but also maximize the profits of company.

On the other hand, the disadvantages of this are far more impactful because, it influence the people to spend the money with out any need. This is large due to the fact that enterprises hide the drawbacks or similarities of the product. To illustrate, Apple company launches a new mobile every year with minimal changes in the design and influence the individuals with new features by hiding the similarities with older versions. This, in turn, make people to buy the device which is not necessary to buy. Therefore, nowadays adverts are negative development towards society.

In conclusion, business prioritize the advertisements to highlight the products in market and increase the sales. I believe that it is a negative development because it holds greater significance towards the people to spend on unwanted goods. Therefore, moving forward balancing advantages and disadvantages of product in adverts could ultimately lead to honesty.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both parts of the prompt: you explain that businesses stress novelty to increase publicity and sales, and you clearly state that you see this as negative because it encourages unnecessary purchases. The Apple example gives your argument a relevant, concrete illustration. This meets the task well overall, but the explanation of why companies emphasise newness is brief and largely repeats the idea of increasing sales; you could also discuss attracting attention or differentiating products from competitors. The negative argument is more developed, though the claim that companies hide drawbacks would benefit from a specific explanation or evidence. Your conclusion restates your position, but the final suggestion about balancing product information is not fully connected to the reasons discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from companies’ motives to the effects on consumers is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This is a sound foundation, though some linking is mechanical and the relationship between sentences is occasionally unclear. For example, “This is mainly because, to promote the product in order to increase the sales” is a fragment rather than a complete explanation. The reference in “This, in turn, make people” is understandable but could be more precise. Develop each paragraph around one clear point and use transitions that show the specific relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “advertisements,” “new features,” “drawbacks,” “similarities” and “minimal changes,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal wording, such as “emphasize” and “prioritize.” However, some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “increase the publicity of the product,” “individual will attract” and “negative development towards society.” These reduce precision, even though they do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points. Aim for natural combinations such as “attract consumers,” “boost sales” and “a negative development for society.” Check word forms and spelling as well: “advert” is used incorrectly in “a advertise,” and “with out” should be written as one word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a result structure with “As a result.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement occur often enough to limit accuracy. For instance, “the firms leverage advertisements to portray their goods are new” needs a structure such as “to portray their goods as new,” while “This not only grow the sales” requires subject–verb agreement. The fragment “This is mainly because, to promote the product…” also needs a complete clause. Articles, possessives and verb forms need attention in examples such as “a company” and “Apple company launches.” Practise building complete sentences and checking that each subject matches its verb; this will make your varied structures more controlled.
