Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, a considerable number of companies are allocating more of their budget specifically to marketing and advertisment in case to withstand with current market competition and this can be achieve only by showing their product unique and effcetive among all the other prodcuts. From my perspective i strongly believe that it is a negative development. In this essay i will support my opinion with logical reasons.
To begin with, the primary reason is the fake endorsement of celebrities in advertise for the product. It is the most effective and basic method to introduce the prodcut to wide range of people. This types of phenomenon attracts the individual towards product and makes them to purchase it regardless of the effectiveness and need of product. Furthermore, it is the most basic and common nature of human being to shift from expensive to cheap, effcetive to more effcetive, good to perfect and this is where companies takes the opportunity. They shows the consumer that they have added more new features and made the service or prodcut more cost effcetive but in reality it is different. It is nothing but a strategy to increase the sales of prodcut or service.
Moreover, they describe their product or service as unique and innovative just to compete with relavent business with similar prodcut or service. It is essential strategy to stay in the competition and also sacrosant to make profit regardless of the effect on consumers.
In conclusion, this types of strategy is beneficial for the businesses but it leads to numerous disadvantages to consumers that is why I strongly believe that it is a negative development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize newness and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you identify reasons such as celebrity endorsements and competitive pressure, the arguments are repetitive and lack specific, concrete examples to illustrate your points. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, distinct example or a more detailed explanation of the consequences, rather than repeating the idea that companies simply want to increase sales.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition between the discussion of celebrity endorsements and the nature of human behavior is a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read to grasp the intended meaning.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'allocate', 'withstand', and 'innovative'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'advertisment', 'effcetive', 'prodcut', and 'relavent'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, although they do not generally impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should focus on accuracy in spelling and attempt to use more precise collocations rather than relying on repetitive phrasing like 'most basic and common'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'this types of phenomenon', 'the most basic and common nature of human being'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas and capitalization errors, such as 'i' instead of 'I'. These errors are frequent, but the meaning remains clear throughout the response. Increasing your control over basic grammar and proofreading for small errors would significantly improve your score.
