Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing your opinion on whether this is positive. Your position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the link between consumer trends and market survival. However, the development of your arguments is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the second and third paragraphs both focus on 'keeping up with trends' and 'market survival' without introducing distinct, deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, try to explore the potential negative aspects of this trend, such as consumerism or environmental impact, to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'In addition' and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions feel slightly forced, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the general trajectory of such activities'. Additionally, the paragraphing is a bit disjointed; the second paragraph is quite long, while the third is relatively short. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a singular, well-developed focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'exceedingly rapid', 'prevalent', and 'natural progression'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'feature more prominent attention' and 'brutal markets of doing business', which sound slightly unnatural. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and try to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to marketing and consumer behavior to demonstrate more flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it's trends' (should be 'its'), 'a a very viable way', and 'consumer's interests' (should be plural 'consumers''). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You have a good grasp of sentence construction, but you need to pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and possessive forms. Increasing the variety of complex structures, such as using more conditional sentences or passive voice, would help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
