Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally unclear. For example, the explanation of why businesses copy trends is vague, and the argument regarding 'consumer rights' is not fully explored. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, well-integrated examples. The essay covers the requirements, but the analysis remains at a surface level, which prevents it from reaching a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, the flow between sentences is often mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'Which play negative impact on consumers rights'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors, making the reader work harder to follow the argument. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively managed to enhance the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is a reliance on basic or repetitive language, such as 'make', 'get', and 'things'. Some word choices are inaccurate or non-idiomatic, such as 'getting inspire', 'gain earning', and 'make reliable use'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of sophisticated vocabulary and frequent errors in collocation and word formation limit the score. To improve, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('This happen', 'business get insecure'), incorrect verb forms ('people use to making experiments'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which occasionally impedes readability. While the meaning is usually clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from achieving a higher score. A greater focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
