Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 155 words. Consequently, the ideas are significantly underdeveloped. While you identify reasons for the trend and state a position, the discussion is fragmented and incomplete. The final paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, meaning the negative aspects of the development are not explored, and the conclusion is missing. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed in full, including a clear introduction, body paragraphs with supporting evidence, and a cohesive conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'First', 'Second', and 'Therefore' to signal progression. However, the logical flow is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is truncated, which disrupts the overall structure. To reach a higher band, you need to ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that ideas are linked more fluidly using a wider variety of cohesive devices, rather than relying on simple sequencing words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use repetitive phrasing, such as 'new products' and 'new customers'. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'more facilities' to describe product features. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to marketing and consumer behavior, and focus on using collocations more accurately to express your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. Examples include 'many company advertising' (should be 'many companies advertise'), 'better then others' (should be 'better than others'), and 'this development have' (should be 'this development has'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms, and the accurate use of comparative structures. Increasing the variety of sentence types will also help demonstrate better control over English grammar.
