Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary society, advertisements are a vital marketing tool. Nowadays, corporations often claim that their products are innovative and modern in some aspects. This trend has various positive and negative effects. This essay will analyse the reasons behind my perspective along with the examples in the subsequent paragraphs.
On the one hand, it is evident that to make profits and productive outcomes, companies publicise their products as unique and upgraded. As through advertisements, organisations reveals the advanced features and specifications of the products. Therefore, more customers get attracted to purchase their innovative products which eventually helps businesses to grow more productively. Moreover, some associations want to enhance their brand reputation. So, they make new strategies of marketing their product by claiming that their services are different and advanced. For instance, at the time of FIFA matches, McDonald's sponsors a football along with the hamburger meals to increase their popularity which ultimately increases their profit.
On the other hand, sometimes this trend of marketing may mislead purchasers. Some advertisements are so influencing that customers purchase that product unnecessarily which just not only waste their money but also their precious time. Furthermore, some companies make fake promotions of their items to get more sales. To exemplify, some smartphone companies launches new products and claiming it as advanced and upgraded but have same specifications as their older products which causes unrealistic expectations of the consumers.
In conclusion, although marketing strategies creates awareness among customers and increases production and popularity of a brand, it has negative development of misleading consumers and a risk of frauds.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for emphasizing 'newness' and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why companies emphasize newness is quite general, and the example regarding McDonald's is not entirely relevant to the concept of 'new' products. While the negative aspects are touched upon, the discussion could be more deeply explored with more specific, nuanced examples. Overall, the response meets the requirements but lacks the depth of analysis expected for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two sides of the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the transition into the McDonald's example. Despite these minor issues, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'contemporary', 'innovative', and 'specifications'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'productive outcomes' instead of 'profitability' or 'successful outcomes', and 'make fake promotions' instead of 'engage in deceptive advertising'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise lexical control to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and pluralization, such as 'organisations reveals' (should be 'reveal'), 'some smartphone companies launches' (should be 'launch'), and 'marketing strategies creates' (should be 'create'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage issues. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the writer's argument, placing the response firmly in the 6.0 range.
