Student answer (Band 5.0)
The growth of every business depends upon the customers. There are two types of customers, permanent customers and new customers. To increase net customers, it is highly valuable to increase new customers and make them permanent. A time comes in every business when customers as well as sells become declined. At that stage, company decides to attract both previous as well as new customers. People always scroll to search for novels things and ideas. Therefore, companies advertise their same products by different ways just to target that people having specific mindset of inquiring something new.
For example, companies make a little bit change in design of motorcycles, if they fail to sell them in previous years, and label them as new model. All the parts including engine, clutch, brakes and other parts are same but only look is changed. People get attracted and buy new motorcycle with great interests. Moreover, prices may also be changed and, this is also a way to attract people just to realize that there is something really novel in the new model.
By the same way, different companies launch their different products as there is something novel. For example Some tea companies change their packing, milk companies launch another product like yogurt or may be skimmed milk, pencil companies change their shapes or sized of their products etc.
In my opinion, advertising in such ways are tools to promote their products and engage more and more customers to grow their business. It is a positive development and hike the business efficiently.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The explanation for why companies use this strategy is repetitive, focusing heavily on the idea of 'novelty' without exploring deeper marketing psychology or consumer behavior. The opinion is stated clearly in the conclusion, but the supporting arguments are limited to simple examples like motorcycles and tea packaging. To reach a higher band, the response needs to explore the implications of this trend more thoroughly, perhaps discussing the balance between innovation and consumerism.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. While cohesive devices like 'For example' and 'Moreover' are used, they are sometimes applied in a repetitive or simplistic manner. The progression of ideas is logical, but the transition between the explanation of business tactics and the personal opinion is abrupt. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'target that people having specific mindset', which lacks proper grammatical cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There is frequent repetition of words like 'new', 'novel', and 'products'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'hike the business' or 'novels things'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'consumer behavior', 'market saturation', 'planned obsolescence') limits the score. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of synonyms and more precise collocations to express ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'sells become declined' (should be 'sales decline'), 'in different ways' (should be 'in different ways'), and 'change their shapes or sized' (should be 'sizes'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense and pluralization errors would be beneficial.
