Student answer (Band 5.5)
Advertisement plays a vital role in growth of any business as it make people aware about the product. Therefore, nowadays, many businesses are emphasizing their products in their advertisement. This essay will give the reasons and evaluate whether this development is positive or negative
On the one hand, as the key role of advertisement is to attract people, emphasizing particular feature product not only makes their work easy and helps to attract people but also makes people aware about the key feature of that product. For instance, in India, old people prefer to brush their teeth with neem and salt. Therefore, a toothpaste brands started to highlight the feature that their toothpaste contains the goodness of salt and neem. As a result, many toothpaste brands selling has skyrocketed.
On the other hand, many businesses do fake illustrations in the advertisement to make profits. which could be misleading from the perspective of consumers. For example, in India, popular brands for juice claims that their juice contains 100% fruits and also they used to draw a real fruits on the pack. But in rea, juices are having 30 to 40% sugar. Moreover, it might be detrimental for the health as well. Because, people consumes a product by watching an advertisement and they are having faith that they are consuming good thing but actually they are not.
In conclusion, to advertisement, emphasizing product could be beneficial but as it raises concern for health, I think it is a negative development. Also Government should take strict against fake claims.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize newness and providing a personal opinion on whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the example regarding toothpaste is relevant, the discussion on the negative aspects could be more nuanced. The conclusion is brief and lacks a summary of the main points, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph fully explores the implications of the arguments provided rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'to advertisement' in the final paragraph, which is not a standard cohesive phrase. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' in the third paragraph, where the antecedent is slightly ambiguous. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'skyrocketed' and 'detrimental', which are used correctly. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'fake illustrations' instead of 'misleading claims' or 'false advertising', and 'juices are having' instead of 'juices contain'. The range is sufficient for communication, but the lack of more sophisticated collocations and occasional errors in word form limit the score to the 6.0 band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the growth of any business', 'a toothpaste brands'), subject-verb agreement ('many toothpaste brands selling has skyrocketed'), and punctuation (the sentence fragment 'which could be misleading...'). The use of complex structures is attempted, but these often contain errors that slightly impede the flow. To reach a higher band, the student needs to focus on consistent control of basic grammar, particularly articles and pluralization, and ensure that complex sentences are punctuated correctly.
