Student answer (Band 6.0)
The promise to provide a product which stands out as an unique entity has become popular among advertisements of emerging businesses . This trend has certainly affected the consumer class in a quite adverse manner.
In order to lure more people companies often display there product as entirely or to some extent different from the ones that are already being used. Many individuals tend to buy such things in order to get a new experience and sometimes in hope of results that were not received from previously used items. These seller units work on such consumer psychology thus trapping them easily.
Later when results are not met to the requirement and when it is realized by the consumer that the product is no different than the outer packaging there is a sense of fraudlency which makes difficult for individuals to trust genuine items. The overmarketing can harm costumers financially and psychologically. For instance every other year we see advertisement of toothpastes with some new features but significant change in results is not observed. The false marketing also led to lose of trust in previously famous and authentic companies therefore bringing loses in financial stocks.
Although there might be some beneficial effects of it but i personally believe that adverse outcomes outweigh this effect. There shall be a strict regulatory body to check whether the claimed remark is factual or not prior to stating it openly in the marketing and advertising. This if not tackeled can become a violation of consumers rights.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing a personal opinion on whether this is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, focusing on consumer psychology and the potential for deception. However, the development is somewhat limited; the explanation of why companies use this strategy is brief, and the discussion on the negative impact could be more nuanced. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the supporting arguments, such as the toothpaste example, are a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' behind the marketing strategies and provide more sophisticated reasoning regarding the broader economic or social implications.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a progression of ideas from the motivation of businesses to the consequences for consumers. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a stronger topic sentence would enhance the flow and logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumer psychology', 'fraudlency' (though this is a non-standard formation), and 'regulatory body'. There are some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'there product' instead of 'their product' and 'fraudlency' instead of 'fraudulence'. Additionally, 'seller units' is an unnatural collocation. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors prevent a higher score. Focus on learning the correct forms of words and using them in their appropriate contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. For instance, 'This if not tackeled can become' lacks necessary commas, and there are issues with article usage ('an unique entity' should be 'a unique entity'). Subject-verb agreement and word order are generally acceptable, but the frequency of minor errors—such as 'led to lose of trust' instead of 'loss of trust'—keeps the score in the 6.0 range. Increasing your control over complex structures and proofreading for basic grammatical slips will help improve your score.
