Student answer (Band 5.5)
Almost, every huge company and start-ups are doing advertising of products and nowadays competition are increasing day by day in the market due to which companies are trying to show their product different and unique from others. This essay will present certain facts and example to support my viewpoint before coming to the conclusions.
On one hand, companies who are doing good advertising are also making high profitable revenue from sales. They know their customers and what they want. Nowadays advertising became very easy with the help of digital marketing. For example, skincare companies like Dot and Key, Hyphen, Dr.Sheth are doing performance marketing and advertising through digital marketing in social platforms due to which they are generating huge amount of profits by doing sales. Start-ups are also doing advertising by investing low budget. Compare to past years marketing became easy with the help of AI and lot's of businesses are growing through advertising.
On the other hand, businesses who are weak at advertising are not performing in good in market even though their products are good. Also many businesses are doing false advertising to sell their products for example, Kissan company sell their ketchups by doing advertising of kissan ketchup made with tomato however they add flavours in it.
Overall, advertising is a key factor of business to make profit. Advertising helps business to spread awareness in market and businesses with good advertising grow more compared to businesses who do not know how to do good marketing and advertising.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasize 'newness' and whether this is positive or negative. However, the development is uneven. The explanation for why companies emphasize newness is somewhat superficial, focusing more on general advertising success than the specific psychological appeal of 'new' products. The discussion on whether this is positive or negative is also underdeveloped; the mention of 'false advertising' is a good point, but it lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments regarding consumer behavior and the societal impact of constant product innovation, rather than focusing primarily on business profitability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For instance, the transition 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' is used, but the internal flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed. Some linking phrases are missing or used incorrectly, such as 'Compare to past years', which should be 'Compared to past years'. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'doing advertising', 'doing sales', and 'good'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'making high profitable revenue' and 'performing in good in market'. To improve, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to business and marketing, such as 'market saturation', 'consumer perception', or 'deceptive marketing practices'. The range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('competition are increasing', 'advertising became very easy'), missing articles ('in market'), and awkward phrasing ('advertising of products'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by errors. The sentence structure is generally simple, and the lack of control over basic grammar rules (like pluralization and verb tense consistency) prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
