Student answer (Band 5.5)

Presently, businesses give stress in their promotion compaigns that their products are new in many ways. It is positive development as such products have everything mentioned on them and are certified by globally recognized organizations which proves their sustainability.

On one hand, with the advancement in artificial intelligence social media platforms play important role in the promoting manufactured products by different companies. It not only includes the products names but it also contains the specialized ingredients along with labels from certified organizations that enhance their sales and ultimately escalates their productivity. Additionally, individuals usually prefer their purchase based on the reviews by the public as well as celebrities who use the products prepared and advertised with branded labels. For instance, herbiotics is a company that sales several multivitamins and anti-aging products recognized by healthcare companies and emphasize that their products are new by enhancing the concentration of active ingredients in their products.

However, some people still believe that the products manufactured by the former companies are original. They do not pay attention to the advertisements because they think that it not only waste their time but also money. Also, several local companies produce third class products and sell them by using original advertisements which in turn affects the health of public and hence it reduces the production efficiency of businesses.

Overall, publicity by the businesses for the promoting good health and well-being is positive development as companies use alternatives bearing good active ingredients. But some products have deadly affects because they contain local ingredients and are promoted by the local companies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for emphasizing 'newness' and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why businesses emphasize newness is linked to 'sustainability' and 'certified organizations,' which is not fully explored or clearly connected to the concept of 'newness' itself. The position is generally clear, but the argument lacks depth and specific, well-explained examples. The mention of 'herbiotics' is a good attempt at an example, but its relevance to the core question of why companies emphasize 'newness' is slightly tenuous. Further elaboration on consumer psychology or competitive marketing strategies would have strengthened the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one hand,' 'Additionally,' and 'However,' which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear; for instance, in the second paragraph, the phrase 'former companies' is used in a way that does not clearly refer back to a specific antecedent. While the progression of ideas is generally coherent, the logical flow within paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence builds more effectively on the previous one rather than simply listing points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'give stress in their promotion compaigns' (should be 'place emphasis on their promotional campaigns') and 'sales several multivitamins' (should be 'sells'). The term 'third class products' is informal and imprecise. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'sustainability' and 'active ingredients,' the overall range is limited, and there are noticeable errors in word formation and spelling that occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. Issues include missing articles ('it is positive development'), subject-verb agreement errors ('herbiotics is a company that sales'), and awkward phrasing ('publicity by the businesses for the promoting good health'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often repetitive. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for articles and verb forms would be beneficial.
