Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, Some business advertisements show few innovations in their products. In my opinion, this is a positive development where companies uplifts the product level for marketing to make customers happy.

On the one hand, it is a negative development because (it can be expancive) consumers think it is to manipulate where the products with old version is enough and this kind of updates are to just fooling the audiance for their profitability, So this advertisements will be failed to convence customers. Furthermore, consumers with treditional mindset does not fit in this modern developments as they think to have chepest products which fulfil their needs. For example, in some villages people with old school mind set think this kind of innovations wirth small change will not be beneficial as it will also be expancive to buy.

On the other hand, i believe this is a positive development, as companies are producing products with some innovations which lookes good and modern people will easily adapt such products through these advertisement. Elaborating further, companies are making their products in some new ways ehich looks good as well as makes shortcuts for the usage. For example, the advertisemsnts will show usage and also the beauty of the product this leads to the customer satisfaction.

In conclusion, I have mentioned the reasons why people think the product is beneficial or not by the advertisement. In addition, by this type of examples we can consider that it is a positive development where people will be satisfied by their consumption and maintainance (as the products are designed to look good).

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasize newness and whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The explanation for why companies focus on newness is limited, and the arguments regarding the 'positive' or 'negative' nature of this trend are repetitive. For instance, the argument about 'modern people' adapting to products is vague. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more specific, well-developed examples rather than general statements about 'beauty' or 'shortcuts'. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and analytical rigor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'In addition, by this type of examples' is awkward. Furthermore, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the conclusion where the link back to the body paragraphs feels forced. While there is a logical progression from the introduction to the conclusion, the internal flow within paragraphs is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and limited use of linking words to connect ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'expancive', 'audiance', 'treditional', 'chepest', 'wirth', 'ehich', 'advertisemsnts', 'lookes', 'maintainance') that occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic terms like 'good', 'new', and 'products'. To improve, you should focus on using more sophisticated collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to marketing and consumer behavior, while also ensuring accurate spelling throughout your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('companies uplifts', 'mindset does not fit'), incorrect word forms ('it is to manipulate'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'the products with old version is enough', which makes the meaning difficult to grasp. While the reader can generally understand the intended message, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from achieving a higher score in this criterion.
