Nowadays many companies or businesses advertise their own products or services have the newest feature or technology compared to other previous or older generation. While some of them are probably over exaggerating, I believe this is neither postive and negative as both side have their own advantages and disadvantages for businesses and consumers.
On one hand, this advertising tactic is highly effective and largely positive impact for companies as it drives continuous sales, builds brand excitement and able to helps them to survive in this highly competitive market. Companies advertising the products or services as "new" help drive technological advance and economic growth. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons for the emphasis on 'newness' and providing a balanced view on whether this is positive or negative. However, the response is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence at the end. Because the response is under the 250-word minimum, the development of ideas is curtailed, particularly in the final paragraph. While the position is clear, the lack of a conclusion and the abrupt ending prevent a full exploration of the arguments, limiting the score for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic paragraphing and some cohesive devices such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' to organize ideas. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the overall structure feel unfinished. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical fashion, and the abrupt ending significantly impacts the logical flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'technological advance' and 'highly competitive market'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'neither postive and negative' (should be 'neither positive nor negative') and 'over exaggerating'. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'companies... advertise their own products... have the newest feature' (missing relative pronoun) and 'consumer buying the new releases products' (incorrect word form). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence leaves the grammatical structure unresolved. While the errors do not usually impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
