Student answer (Band 5.0)

Advertisements are one of the best ways to promote products and reach out more customers. There is no denying that businesses are displaying their products with unique features and different from other products available in the market. This essay will give practical reasons behind it and will explain why it is a positve development.

To begin with, various businesses have started marketng their products to stand out in the market. The primary reason for this is to fulfill the requirement of the market. In recent years, it is observed that people get bored with old products very quickly and they want something unique and exciting which is different from the tradition products which arer already available in the market. Companies sees them as an opportunity and develop unique products to satisfy the growing demand. For instance, people used to have old keypad based mobile phones which were capable of doing different tasks but people got bored of it which leads to the development of smart touchscreen mobile phones. Almost everyone now has a smart phone and if people will get bored with they then companies would need to create something unique again to fulfill the requirements.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 198 words long and ends abruptly with an incomplete conclusion. While the introduction identifies the task requirements, the essay is significantly underdeveloped. The second paragraph attempts to explain why businesses emphasize new products, but the argument lacks depth and the response fails to address the second part of the prompt—whether this is a positive or negative development—entirely. Due to the severe lack of length and the failure to complete the task, the response is limited in its ability to demonstrate a clear position or fully develop ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, using a basic introduction and a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending at 'In conclusion,' severely disrupts the coherence of the piece. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and limited way, such as 'To begin with' and 'For instance'. Because the essay is incomplete, there is no overall progression of ideas, and the paragraphing is insufficient. To improve, you must ensure that every essay has a fully developed introduction, at least two body paragraphs with clear topic sentences, and a complete, well-structured conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'marketng' instead of 'marketing' and 'positve' instead of 'positive'. The word choice is somewhat repetitive, relying on simple phrases like 'best ways' and 'different from'. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to business and consumer behavior, such as 'innovation', 'market saturation', or 'consumer trends', and ensure that your spelling is accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include 'reach out more customers' (should be 'reach out to more customers'), 'tradition products which arer already' (spelling and article usage errors), and 'Companies sees them' (subject-verb agreement error). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor slips would significantly improve your accuracy.
