Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, businesses are increasingly advertising their products at nation level. Although companies would get financial and social benefits by advertising their products, many young people may suffer from anxiety, depression, self-obsession, and they might loss their interests in education. Therefore, I believe that this is a negative development.
The companies attracts the consumers on a large scale. There are several ways by which the products are advertised. For example, outlets prepare appealing slogans, use online sources, and offer many affordable sales by putting off on different products. Consequently, the customers immediately drawn towards their favorite products.
Advertisements have negative consequences on individuals well-being. Young generations are highly influenced by the social media influencers that the advertisers use to attract their customers. The children pay attention towards their external appearance and began to apply different products that are not favorable for their skin. In this way, they fail to perform well at academic level.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 153 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you identify the topic and state a position, the explanation of why businesses emphasize 'newness' is largely absent, and the discussion on the negative impacts is underdeveloped. To achieve a higher band, you must fully address all parts of the prompt, including the 'Why' aspect, and provide more detailed, extended arguments with specific examples to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Therefore' and 'Consequently', but they are sometimes used mechanically. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is somewhat abrupt. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas flow logically from one to the next using a wider variety of linking words and referencing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on common phrases like 'appealing slogans' and 'negative consequences'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'putting off on different products' (which is unclear) and 'loss their interests' (should be 'lose'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to marketing and social impact, while ensuring correct word forms are used.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The companies attracts' (subject-verb agreement error), 'customers immediately drawn' (missing auxiliary verb), and 'individuals well-being' (missing possessive apostrophe). There are also issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct use of auxiliary verbs, and proofreading for basic punctuation errors.
