Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasize novelty and whether this is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant, particularly the discussion on consumer psychology and technological progress. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation of why businesses use these strategies is clear, but the evaluation of whether it is a positive or negative development is slightly underdeveloped. The conclusion is a bit abrupt and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that the 'positive or negative' aspect is explored with more depth and balanced reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'This are some reasons', 'This strategies results in'). There are instances where the logical flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the discussion of consumer psychology and the saturated market. While the overall structure is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking words and occasional awkward phrasing makes the flow feel somewhat stilted rather than natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'competeitve', 'immence', 'innvoative', 'attarcted', 'devemopment', 'comaprison'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'Research and Development' and 'saturated market', the range is limited. To improve, the student should focus on accuracy in spelling and attempt to use a wider variety of collocations to express ideas more precisely rather than relying on basic descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the psychology of the consumers they naturally desires', 'As a human we all wants') and incorrect pluralization ('This strategies'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence boundary punctuation would significantly improve the quality.
