Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasize 'newness' and whether this is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that ads create excitement and help businesses, the analysis of why 'newness' specifically is emphasized is limited. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and specific examples are somewhat generic. To improve, focus on explaining the psychological impact of 'newness' on consumer behavior rather than just describing the mechanics of advertising. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow between and within sentences is often mechanical. Some cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand', but they are not always used effectively to link complex ideas. There are instances where the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the discussion of social media and the conclusion. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing, while present, does not always group related ideas logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'suervice in this society', 'exist the city' (likely meaning 'exit'), and 'get fond to buy'. The use of 'currenc y' (with a space) and 'bussinesses' (spelling error) also detracts from the overall quality. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on basic descriptive terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of the individuals using their smart phone'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'Rather to wasting their hundreds of thousands'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
