Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and offering an opinion on whether this is positive or negative—the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The explanation for why businesses use this strategy is brief, and the discussion on the negative aspects lacks depth, relying on a single, somewhat unclear example. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and examples to reach the required length and provide a more thorough analysis of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition to this' and 'On the other hand,' but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that feels mechanical. The paragraphing is present but the internal flow within paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow your logic. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea will help improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'adverties' instead of 'advertisements,' 'oftenly' instead of 'often,' and 'frauding' instead of 'defrauding.' These errors occasionally impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words accurately in context. Avoid using informal or incorrect phrasing and try to incorporate more precise, academic terminology related to business and marketing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'businesses oftenly shows'), and misuse of pronouns (e.g., 'there' instead of 'their'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors in punctuation or syntax. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessive adjectives. Proofreading for common errors like 'there/their' and 'its/it's' will also significantly improve the accuracy of your work.
