Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout the essay. Ideas are generally well-developed, particularly in the second and third paragraphs, where you explain the psychological impact on consumers and the practical benefits of innovation. However, the introduction is slightly awkward and repetitive, which hinders the initial clarity of your argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opening statement is more concise and that your main points are distinct and fully explored without unnecessary repetition of the prompt's language.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore,' 'For instance,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow within the first paragraph is disrupted by grammatical errors, making the opening less smooth. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different aspects of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always clear and natural, rather than relying on standard linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'innovations,' 'target audiences,' and 'marketplace.' There are some instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'to know consumer the new product in method' and 'bring costumer a idea,' which detract from the overall quality. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the inaccuracies in collocation and word form are noticeable. To achieve a higher score, focus on learning the correct collocations for business-related topics and ensure you are using words in their correct grammatical form (e.g., 'customer' instead of 'costumer').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use some complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'it let consumers know what they are about get new why should they buy'). These errors are persistent and occasionally make the reader work harder to understand the intended meaning. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and practice constructing more complex sentences with greater precision. Reducing these recurring errors will significantly improve the readability and professional tone of your writing.
