Student answer (Band 5.0)
Now a days, many companies emphasize that their products are new in some way. This trend has become increasing reputedly. I think this is both negative and positive. In my opinion it is mainly a negative effect on costumers.
There are some positive points. Companies try to make better products for people. For example, mobile phones is one of the best product for customers and they become better every year. They have better cameras, bigger screens and better longer battery timings.
However, There are many negative effect also. Firstly, customers are often attracted to new things because they believe that latest product are better as compare to old things. Secondly, people buy all those thing which cannot afford it.
In my opinion, Advertising have a negative impact on consumers life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 130 words. Consequently, the ideas are significantly underdeveloped. While you identify both positive and negative aspects, the arguments lack the necessary depth, examples, and logical extension required for an Academic Task 2 essay. The prompt asks for a discussion on why businesses emphasize 'newness' and your opinion on whether this is positive or negative; however, the explanation for why companies do this is largely absent. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with detailed reasoning and specific examples to ensure the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, which is a positive start. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and mechanical way, such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To achieve a higher score, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that flows logically into the supporting evidence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'better', 'new', and 'things'. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'increasing reputedly' (likely meant 'increasingly popular') and 'costumers' (which refers to people who make costumes, rather than 'consumers'). To improve, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with more sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. Examples include 'mobile phones is one of the best product' (subject-verb agreement and pluralization issues) and 'people buy all those thing which cannot afford it' (missing subject and incorrect relative clause structure). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with very few attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, plural forms, and the correct use of relative pronouns. Incorporating a wider variety of complex sentence structures will also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
