Student answer (Band 5.5)

In their advertising, businesses nowadays usually are promoting that their products are new in way which another products are not. It is because of the competition in the market and getting there base in market for there profits and the increase in demand of it. I can be a positive development for that company or owners of that business but not fir the consumers because they are kept in a wrong preption of product.

These days in market there is a large competition running in every trade business rather it is for manufacturing of electronics or the food products. The main thing in both is advertising every company wants there product to be in trend and wants to be sold in every household due to this race they keep showing that there product is good and wht new in it. They give a large amount of profits to the social persnolities which are showed up in there advertisments, so mare and more consumers may attrect to there product.

From the point of view of business owner that is a positive thing due to the profits gained by them but the consumers which are in dark face the concsqunces of that. They face the problems after the truth of products is in front. It shows the negative impact on there life. which they buy after seeing those face promises and the something new is not found in it.

I personally can say that , it can be a positive development if business owners think for not only there profits but for the consumers also. If these advertising can be shown what the right products used in it, than can make a big differencs in number of sales but can benefits the consumers and the reliance on that product can be increased.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation for why businesses use this strategy is somewhat repetitive, focusing mainly on competition and profit without exploring deeper marketing psychology. The discussion on whether it is positive or negative is clear in its stance, but the supporting arguments lack specific examples or depth. To improve, you should provide concrete examples of products or industries to illustrate your points, which would help in extending your arguments beyond general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While you use some linking words like 'From the point of view of' and 'In conclusion' (implied), the connections between sentences are often mechanical or unclear. For instance, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'good', 'new', and 'business'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'preption' (perception), 'persnolities' (personalities), 'attrect' (attract), 'conscsqunces' (consequences), and 'differencs' (differences). These errors occasionally impede the flow of reading. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and collocations related to marketing and consumer behavior. Focus on precision; for example, instead of 'wrong preption', use 'misleading impression'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage (e.g., 'in market'), and word order. Many sentences are simple, and attempts at complex structures often result in errors, such as 'If these advertising can be shown what the right products used in it, than can make a big differencs'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones, and pay close attention to pluralization and the correct use of prepositions.
