Student answer (Band 5.5)

Businesses of today through their advertisements programmes, portray that their products are new in some aspects. Why this happen? in this essay i will examine both perspectives before making my opinion that emphasizes that products are new are good business strategy.

For a new and growing business, the advertisement programme is a vital tool for the success of the business. Good captions is on of the captivating approach that attracts consumers interests to a new product. Even though a similar product might be in existence but the new product offering must been seen and identified by the company that offers the product as a new product. For instance, we have a lot of detergents in the market at the moment but if any business decides to seek entry into the business, in order to gain a market share, the advertising format will address the new washing product as virgin product.

On the contrast, existing businesses will see the process of entry by the new product as misleading to already owned market share. Because, they assume that a detergent is nothing but a detergent, nothing has changed in the content but the advertisement strategy never looked at such arguments. further, for the interest and sensibility of the general public, a business should recognized as new if the product has an added advantage over an existing offering for the good and protection consumers.

In conclusion, in my own view, and entry into the market by a new business that offers the products like the existing ones, should be made to follow the market share rather than portraying it's products as a new business with any significant changes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying why businesses emphasize 'newness' and providing an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation of why businesses use this strategy is clear, but the discussion on whether it is positive or negative is underdeveloped and slightly confusing in the conclusion. The essay lacks a strong, consistent position, as the conclusion seems to contradict the earlier assertion that the strategy is a 'good business strategy.' To improve, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with clear examples and that your stance remains consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'For instance' and 'On the contrast,' they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that makes the flow mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the relationship between the 'new product' and the 'existing business' argument becomes muddled. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'advertisement programmes' instead of 'advertising campaigns' and 'virgin product' to describe a new item, which is not a standard collocation in this context. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid relying on basic phrasing. Focus on using words that accurately convey your intended meaning in a business context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Good captions is on of the captivating approach'), incorrect verb forms ('must been seen'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is usually discernible, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like verb tense consistency, pluralization, and article usage. Practicing the construction of complex sentences will also help you demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
