Student answer (Band 6.0)
The advertisements of businesses these days are added with some extra information regarding the products in modified way. As per my observation this type of change occurs to grow their product market. It is hard to decide it as a positive or negative development, and any type of development will impact society directly.
In my point of view, the emphasised advertisement of product is because of growing competition in the market. In addition, businesses mainly grow by advertisements in modified ways such change in the product making as new in some way can make impact. There are many other reasons for this trick which may include change in taste, difference in design and ways services also attract costumer in the market which directly helps in the growth of businesses. Similarly, changing cultural trends is also a key reason behind the modification of the products as a new one in their advertisements which also ace the market.
However, it is challenging to finalize the modified advertisements whether it is negative or a positive development, but in my observation, it is a negative development as old products may sell in a new packaging with high prices. Moreover, it can harm real productivity as many replica products can be introduced in the market as real one which effects directly to actual marketers. Similarly, the nature of advertising may become the reason for market crash. Therefore, rules must be there to stop such kind of advertisements.
In conclusion, the race for growth in the business sector usually led marketers to inappropriate advertisements. The development may have negative impacts on the market.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for emphasizing 'newness' and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention competition and changing trends as reasons, these points are not fully explored or supported with concrete examples. Similarly, the negative aspects, such as 'old products in new packaging,' are mentioned but lack depth. To improve, you should provide specific, real-world examples (e.g., the smartphone industry or food labeling) to illustrate your points, which would help in achieving a higher band score by demonstrating a more thorough exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition,' 'Similarly,' and 'However.' However, some of these transitions feel mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the reasons for advertising and the negative impacts could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the central argument of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. You rely on somewhat repetitive or imprecise phrasing, such as 'modified way' and 'trick.' There are also some collocation issues, such as 'ace the market' and 'effects directly to actual marketers,' which sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations that are appropriate for an academic context, such as 'market saturation,' 'deceptive marketing practices,' or 'consumer perception.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The advertisements... are added with some extra information' (passive voice misuse) and 'the race for growth... usually led marketers' (tense inconsistency). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
