Student answer (Band 5.0)
The growing influence of business products in modern society has sparked various debates. Nowadays businessman mainly focus on their products that change their products in some new ways. There are many positive and negative effects of this development. In this essay, I will give my opinion with some suitable examples.
There are many reasons for this development; first of all, most people feel boring when they use the same products and they are wanted the new products. For example, some mobile phone companies such as iPhone, and Techno companies every lunch the new model and the get attention of people. The public are very excited for purchasing the new model then companies get too much profit from new model.
Some demerits of new models, people waste their money when they are purchase new model. Some people have a phone but when they are seen new model they are purchase it and waste their money because this model is not beneficial for it. This is also evident from the facts that some companies only change the shape of products and other things remain same like system, ram and memory of phone and show on internet all things change and increase the price of new model then people purchase it because they are not aware about it and waste their money.
In conclusion, many companies want to produced new products in some new ways. I think the disadvantages are more rather than the advantages. The new models only for entertainment and fun otherwise it is not usable in your life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development. The position is clear, concluding that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the explanation of why consumers want new products relies on basic assertions rather than fully elaborated arguments ('most people feel boring when they use the same products'). The second body paragraph attempts to explain consumer waste and deceptive marketing practices ('companies only change the shape of products'), which is relevant, but the ideas remain under-developed and lack sophisticated supporting examples. Consequently, the task response aligns best with Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, fulfilling the fundamental requirements of paragraphing. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences and ideas are often abrupt or awkward, such as 'Some demerits of new models, people waste their money when they are purchase new model.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear or mechanical ('this model is not beneficial for it'). While the text has some organisation and the reader can follow the overall line of thought, the lack of smooth, flexible cohesive ties places this response squarely at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic and repetitive, frequently impeded by inaccurate word choice and form. Examples include 'businessman mainly focus', 'feel boring' instead of 'bored', and 'every lunch the new model' instead of 'launch every new model'. The student attempts some topic-related vocabulary like 'advertising', 'profit', and 'entertainment', but errors in collocation and grammar are noticeable ('purchase new model', 'aware about it'). Because the lexical range is limited and frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, this performance corresponds to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex forms that are grammatically faulty. There are persistent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'the get attention of people', 'when they are seen new model they are purchase it', and 'companies want to produced new products'. Punctuation is also erratic in places. These frequent grammatical errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader, preventing the text from reaching a Band 6. The grammar profile matches Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
