Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing why businesses emphasise new products and giving a personal view on whether this is positive or negative. The writer attempts to explain the role of advertisements and influencers, such as mentioning Karina Kapoor promoting skin care items. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times unclear due to confusing argumentation, particularly in the body paragraphs where the distinction between why businesses use novelty and the evaluation of it being positive or negative becomes blurred. The writer states it is a constructive development initially, but the supporting paragraphs introduce contradictory points regarding high costs and fraud. Overall, the ideas are somewhat under-developed, aligning with a Band 5 performance for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay attempts some structural progression with introductory, body, and concluding sections, using cohesive phrases such as 'To commence with', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion'. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and poor sentence links. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within the paragraphs is faulty, and referencing is often unclear (e.g., 'masses sell their product'). Transitional markers are sometimes used inappropriately or mechanically, making the overall arrangement difficult to follow. This reflects the characteristics of a Band 4.5 to 5.0 performance, where organisation is present but overall progression lacks clarity and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent lexical errors that impede smooth reading. Examples include 'profession in this day and age', 'disconstructive development', and 'bneleive'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'indisputable' and 'moderated era' (written as 'moderate era'), but these are misused or suffer from severe word-choice and collocation errors. Spelling mistakes are also noticeable throughout the text, such as 'launhed' and 'purchause'. While the writer manages to convey a basic topic-related vocabulary around advertising and products, the range is limited and noticeable errors cause strain for the reader, fitting the Band 4 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are heavily flawed and ungrammatical. Frequent errors occur in basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and articles (e.g., 'It is often argued by in their commercial', 'poor people also get force to buy', 'some time it can be fraud'). Punctuation is also inaccurate, with random spacing before commas and periods. The high frequency of grammatical errors strains comprehension and distorts meaning in several places, which aligns closely with the Band 4 level where errors are frequent and pervasive.
