Student answer (Band 6.0)

The advertising industry has changed recently due to rapid globalization and widespread use of social media. There is an increasing competition in almost all fields of life which leads to a changes in the advertizing strategy. Advertising products with emphysis that they are latest is most trending now-a-days. This trend has many postive and negative consequences. I believe that advantages overweigh the disadvantages.

The present global market has variety of products with different qualities and prices. In addition, every business has to face heavy competition in the market. People have a wide range of choices in the market. Consequently, it has become extremly difficult to grap the attention of customer in such circumstances. Advertisments are changing their presntations and styels to attract customers. They portry their product as unique and different from others to gain the attention of customers. This has postive impact on their sale and business. Likewise, it also helps people to select the most suitable item for their use according to their choice and budget. For example, many different varieties of smart phones are present in the market. Companies advertise their phones with emphasis on latest features like cameras and storage capacity. People prefer latest version of smartphones with modern features based on these advertisements.

On the other hand, there are some negative effects of this approach. Some companies exercise false promotion of their products. Futhermore, their is increase in scams due to wrong projection of products. This results in dissatisfaction and financial losses of customers. It also promotes distrust about advertisement among people when they have bad experiences of items contrary to advertisements.

In conclusion, despite some disadvantages , advertising with honesty is a postive development .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task, discussing both why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development. A clear position is stated in the introduction: 'I believe that advantages overweigh the disadvantages.' Main ideas are presented, such as the need to grab customer attention in a competitive market and the potential risks of false promotions. However, the development of these ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on competition is extended with a general example about smartphones, but deeper analysis into consumer psychology or corporate strategy is missing. Overall, the response meets the criteria for Band 6 as it addresses all parts with relevant ideas, though some areas remain under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with logical paragraphing. The introduction sets the topic, body paragraph one outlines the causes and positive effects, body paragraph two details the negative consequences, and a brief conclusion summarises the stance. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition,' 'Consequently,' 'Likewise,' and 'On the other hand.' However, referencing and transitions can be a bit mechanical or faulty. For example, 'Advertisments are changing their presntations and styels' follows a discussion on customers rather than smoothly flowing from the previous sentence's subject. Furthermore, sentence boundaries and paragraph transitions occasionally feel disjointed. This level of organisation aligns with Band 6 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'globalization,' 'competition,' and 'circumstances.' However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the writing, including 'advertizing' instead of 'advertising,' 'emphysis' instead of 'emphasis,' 'postive' instead of 'positive,' 'overweigh' instead of 'outweigh,' 'extremly' instead of 'extremely,' 'grap' instead of 'grab,' 'Advertisments' instead of 'Advertisements,' 'presntations' instead of 'presentations,' 'styels' instead of 'styles,' 'portry' instead of 'portray,' and 'Futhermore' instead of 'Furthermore.' Despite these spelling inaccuracies, the meaning is generally communicated, fitting the Band 5 to Band 6 threshold, but because vocabulary control is frequently shaky, a score of 5.5 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'There is an increasing competition in almost all fields of life which leads to a changes in the advertizing strategy.' There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, including article omissions and incorrect pluralisation: 'a changes' instead of 'changes,' 'is most trending now-a-days' instead of 'is most trendy nowadays,' 'variety of products' requiring an article ('a variety'), 'has variety of products,' 'attention of customer' instead of 'attention of customers,' 'their is increase' instead of 'there is an increase,' and 'distrust about advertisement' instead of 'distrust of advertisements.' While these errors occur frequently and cause minor friction for the reader, communication is not impeded, supporting a Band 5.5 score.
