Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, advertising have a great influence on people's life. The way products are advertised, people get overwhelmed with it and get a feeling to buy the product immediately. Advertisement is the best way to showcase the product and increase the sale.

Starting with the way companies/businesses are illustrating their product/business is excellent. More and more people are getting attracted toward it. Moreover, it's the stratergy behind it. Companies know what people are looking for and how they will be distracted towards their product. In addtion, their is a lot of competition in adversitment industry as every company is evolving in it and demonstrating their product in new ways. For instance, there are so many companies selling perfumes but a perfume company had the best and unique advertisment have humorus sales today so it's all about having out of the box advertisements.

Moving forward, one question comes in our mind that "Is it beneficial to us or not?".According to my opinion, advertisments do have some drawbacks which are not useful to us. Originally, from my real life experience i got influenced by a product which was not necessary to me still i bought it and it costed me 15 thousands rupees. Initially, i was scrolling videos on social media and suddenly an advertisment popped up which was of a beautiful bag though i did'nt needed it but it was shown in such a way that i got influenced. Lastly, the advertisments are made in such a way that people start buying those products even if they don't need it.

In conclusion, advertisment have both benefits and drawbacks. Its on us how we see it. Some people are there who takes advertisment in a positive way and don't get much influenced by it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address all parts of the prompt by discussing why businesses emphasise new products and offering an opinion on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and superficial. For instance, the first part touches on competition and consumer attraction, but the explanation remains brief. When exploring whether the trend is positive or negative, the writer introduces a personal anecdote about purchasing an unnecessary bag, which illustrates the point but lacks broader analytical depth. The position is discernible—acknowledging both benefits and drawbacks—but the overall exploration of the issue does not reach the fully extended argumentation required for higher bands. Therefore, it aligns best with Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing some overall structure. However, progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions such as 'Starting with...' and 'Moving forward...'. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, such as 'their is a lot of competition' and mechanical referencing. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion is weak, as sentences often jump between ideas without smooth logical bridges. For example, the final paragraph attempts a conclusion but introduces slightly contradictory thoughts rather than synthesising the main points effectively. These features reflect Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with words like 'advertisment' misspelled multiple times throughout the response. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'overwhelmed', 'demonstrating', and 'humorus', but these are accompanied by lexical errors and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation (e.g., 'distracted towards their product', 'humorus sales today'). The range is minimally adequate for the task, but frequent word-form errors and spelling mistakes ('stratergy', 'did'nt', 'costed') prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. Frequent grammatical errors occur, including subject-verb agreement issues ('advertising have', 'advertisments are made... it'), spelling mistakes, incorrect punctuation, and awkward phrasing ('According to my opinion', 'its on us how we see it'). Complex sentences often contain structural flaws or run-on elements, causing some difficulty for the reader. While communication is not completely obscured, the density of errors keeps the performance at a Band 5.0 level.
