Student answer (Band 5.5)

In marketing industry, business owner often advertise their product as brand new. I believe that this is a positive development as it gives an awareness to the consumer to the kind of product they use, leading to a more potential buyer and customer. As well as good repuation in the company.

It is a postive development because if businesses provide a transparent and adequate description of a certain product as new.The consumer will be more likely interested to the service and products it offers. With that being said, people often buy more the items consistently. For example, Pan Demanila bakeshop always sells bread fresh from the oven as customer can really tell based on how it looks and it's aroma. According to the owner of the shop,if all breads aren't sold out, they are going to make the prices of the bread by fifty percent off,so that bread will easily be sold before the shop closed. That tells, if product looks new and fresh physically, consumer tend to buy more.

Futhermore, this could strenghten the reputation of the business. People oftel feel trust the services and products that company offers. From this, it's a good development of the company. For example, one of the most popular tech company apple, always update the features of iphones,in terms of apperance, storage, usage and it's quality. With this, consumer tend to be more confident to buy product from this brand. As I believe, people will buy products over and over again if given with a proper information of the product.

To sum it up,I firmly belive that businesses that put emphases on their products as new through advertising is good development on their business and it's customer relationship.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise that their products are new, and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer establishes a clear position from the beginning, arguing that it is a positive development because it increases consumer awareness and builds company reputation. Ideas are supported with relevant examples, such as the Pan Demanila bakeshop and Apple. However, some arguments lack full extension and suffer from minor generalisations. For instance, the link between advertising products as new and creating a good reputation is stated rather than deeply analysed. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it at a solid Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. Transitions like 'With that being said' and 'From this, it's a good development' feel unnatural and awkward. Referencing is also slightly unclear in places, such as 'That tells, if product looks new and fresh physically, consumer tend to buy more.' While there is a basic logical progression, the overuse or misuse of cohesive devices and awkward phrasing restrict the score to a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting words like 'transparent', 'reputation', 'consistently', and 'strengthen'. However, there are numerous lexical and collocation errors, such as 'marketing industry' instead of 'the marketing industry', 'gives an awareness' instead of 'raises awareness', and 'popular tech company apple' with capitalization issues. Additionally, spelling and word-form errors occur, such as 'repuation', 'postive', 'Futhermore', and 'apperance'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect a Band 5.5 level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and article usage. Examples include missing articles ('as customer can really tell'), incorrect pluralisation ('consumer tend to be more confident'), and awkward sentence structures ('According to the owner of the shop,if all breads aren't sold out, they are going to make the prices of the bread by fifty percent off'). While the meaning is generally communicated, the high frequency of basic and complex structural errors keeps the score at a Band 5.0.
