Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt regarding why businesses emphasise new products and whether this is a positive or negative development, expressing a clear negative opinion ("I am disagree in this statement"). However, the ideas are severely limited and under-developed, relying on overly simplistic examples such as Bata shoes and Educators school. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response is only 200 words long, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This lack of adequate development and failure to reach the word count limits the score to Band 4.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organisation of the text is very basic and lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the transition between ideas is abrupt and mechanical. For instance, phrases like "Secound of all" and "The first May discount" are used awkwardly. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of argument. For example, sentences such as "Then this plan is dad on it this ways" lack logical connection to the preceding text. Cohesive devices are either inadequate or misused, resulting in a low band score of 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling and word-choice errors that strain the reader. Examples include "companys" instead of companies, "resturents" instead of restaurants, "clouths" instead of clothes, "shoues" instead of shoes, and "institude" instead of institute. Words are frequently misused, such as "frezen" and "sall". The range of vocabulary is limited and inadequate for an academic task, demonstrating difficulty with basic lexical items and word formation, which corresponds to a Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at more complex sentences result in frequent, severe errors that constantly distort meaning and impede communication. Examples of grammatical failures include "There are many shops, big malls, big companys and resturents are the parts our life", "I am disagree in this statement", and "When people comes on the shoping mall... then they sad and frezen on it". Punctuation and subject-verb agreement errors are pervasive throughout the text. These frequent errors place the response firmly in Band 4.0.
