Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, businesses usually underline their products in some way in the promotion. As every business wants, its marketing level should rise for this they underscore their product. From my perspective, businesses should emphasize their product in different ways, it gives a surge to their marketing.
Firstly, in my firm belief that it is a positive development because they can sell their products without any bargaining and stress. As they already informed the people about the properties of the product. It is also easy for people to buy those products for which they have information. By telling the importance of a product can attract people for buying.
For instance, if a chair manufacturing company introduces a new design of chair. The management of the company have to underline the quality of the product. For which they can attract more buyers.
Moreover, I also agree that it would be a negative development because if companies add those qualities which the pointed product doesn`t have. It also breaks the trust of their customers, as they believe in them buying products by thinking this really have such qualities which was published by the company. If such reliability really add in the product it rise the trust of ones and if don't have these calibers, next time customers could not trust them.
For example, an electronic company told in the orientation their product can survive for 10 years and they don't get guarentee for this customer could not believe on them.
In conclusion, emphasizing the novelty of products is a multi-faceted advertising strategy. While it successfully drives technological innovation and provides consumers with advanced solutions, it simultaneously fuels a culture of overconsumption and environmental degradation. Ultimately, I believe that highlighting product updates is beneficial for industry progress, provided that companies prioritize sustainability alongside innovation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing why businesses emphasize that their products are new and examining both positive and negative aspects of this trend. However, some ideas are under-developed or expressed with limited clarity, particularly in the body paragraphs where sentences like 'businesses should emphasize their product in different ways, it gives a surge to their marketing' lack detailed extension. The student maintains a position throughout, concluding with a nuanced view on sustainability versus innovation. The examples provided, such as the chair manufacturing company and the electronic company, are relevant but briefly stated. Therefore, this performance fits the Band 6 descriptor well, as all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, though some lack full development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing different viewpoints, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' are used to structure the text, though referencing and linking are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in 'for this they underscore their product'. Progression is generally discernible, but the logical flow is occasionally hindered by abrupt shifts between sentences and awkward phrasing within paragraphs. This corresponds to the Band 6 descriptor, where the overall structure is coherent despite some mechanical or faulty cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'multi-faceted advertising strategy', 'overconsumption', and 'environmental degradation'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'underscore their product' used where 'underline' or 'emphasize' might be intended, 'guarentee' (spelling error), and 'reliability really add in the product it rise the trust of ones'. While communication is not heavily impeded, these lexical errors and occasional repetitions prevent the score from reaching a higher band. Consequently, the lexical resource is characteristic of Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses ('if a chair manufacturing company introduces a new design of chair'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as sentence fragments ('For which they can attract more buyers.'), subject-verb agreement issues ('if companies add those qualities which the pointed product doesn't have'), and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation errors also occur. These errors rarely impede overall communication, but their frequency prevents the control seen at Band 7. Therefore, a Band 5.0 is appropriate, reflecting an attempt at complex structures that are often faulty and frequent errors that occasionally cause difficulty.
