Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days some people seem to argue that the growing number of business are focusing to persent their product are new among others in their advertising campaign. I firmly believe that it is just a new strategy to engagge more buyers and boosts their sales and profit. However, it is a positive development in my viewpoint and this essay shall discuss some of the reasons.

In the first place, it would be quite interesting to note that there are various similar products already available in the market which businesses promote. To make product by using some new flavours and ingredients and advertising them in a unique pattern so they can stay ahead from their competitors and differentiate with them. And to gain some extra sales and profit. One illustration for this is that, smartphone company's usually launch their products in every year by highlighting some new key features such as, improved camera, faster processor and upgradation in RAM version to attract tech consumers.

Another major reason of this side of the topic seem to be that, they often emphasises on this marketing tool to attract those people who really wanted to upgrade by time with new features of technology and innovation. So by influencing on them they just make a little upgradation of their old version with some new key features and by enhancing a quality. For instance, a car company release new models with some new modification in the interior design and outerbody look which force previoud buyers to upgrade.

In conclusion, I am convinced that is indeed a detable issue which need further analysis and discussion. However, in the light of above discussed arguments and examples. I am quite safe to conclude that it is indeed a positive development because it allows people to experience new innovation and technological advancement and give their reviews to other people whether these products are worthed to invest.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: why businesses emphasise that their products are new, and whether this is a positive or negative development. The position is clear throughout the essay, stating that it is a marketing strategy to boost sales and arguing that it is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive in places. For instance, the discussion on smartphone and car companies covers similar points regarding updates and modifications. While the prompt is adequately answered, the examples could be further extended to reach higher band levels. Overall, it satisfies the requirements for Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is arranged into a logical four-paragraph structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In the first place', 'Another major reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, there are some mechanical or awkward transitions, such as starting a sentence with 'And to gain some extra sales and profit.' Additionally, referencing is sometimes faulty, such as the sentence fragment 'Another major reason of this side of the topic seem to be that, they often emphasises...', which obscures the logical flow slightly. Paragraphing is used appropriately overall, placing the essay securely in Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations and topic-related terms like 'advertising campaign', 'differentiate', 'tech consumers', and 'technological advancement'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, form, and spelling throughout the text. Examples include 'persent' instead of 'present', 'engagge', 'boosts' instead of 'boost', 'smartphone company's' (unnecessary apostrophe), 'upgradation', 'previoud', and 'worthed'. These errors show limited control over word formation and spelling, aligning with a Band 5.5 to 6.0 performance, best represented by a 6.0 for achieving an adequate range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('the growing number of business are', 'company's usually launch'), awkward phrase structures (' emphasises on this marketing tool to attract those people who really wanted to upgrade by time'), and sentence fragments ('And to gain some extra sales and profit.'). There are also issues with punctuation and capitalization. These errors place the grammar score at Band 5.0.
